Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
The company has been in business since 1960; however, we just purchased it Dec, 2007 and brought it to Acworth from New Jersey.
What is your primary product or service?
We manufacture attractive and economical garden plant labels and sell hand healthy Barnel pruners and Bionic garden gloves.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I am a teacher and my husband installs and maintains rose gardens in the Atlanta area. When he began to have hand problems due to repetitive motion, I started looking for products to ease his pain. That turned into rose garden business that has since evolved into a gardener's site for just a few exceptional products. We have a private garden of approximately 150 rose bushes, many Japanese maples, and unusual hostas and use the products we sell daily.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
The 3 main products we carry are exceptional and hard to find locally. We produce the Harlane garden stakes. The incredible Bionic gloves were designed by an orthopaedic hand surgeon, produced by Louisville Slugger and have earned the "Ease of Use" endorsement from the National Arthritis Foundation. The Barnel pruners are high tech products that allow pain free cutting with a lightweight reliable tool. Our products attribute to hand health and make a hobby more enjoyable for people who garden a lot or experience hand pain while cutting or digging.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We are primarily a web-based business, but are available by appointment to see products and to view our extensive private rose gardens.
